If the phrase 'Fifty Shades of Grey' hadn't already been used for a book, the Icelandic tourist board could have used it to describe their beautiful, but mostly monochrome island.
And in keeping with the 'Icelandic Noir' theme, most of the modern architecture in and around the capital Reykjavik seems to have adopted the black and grey colour scheme as well.
So it was with immense gratification and relief, walking around Reykjavik, that I found the Icelandic people rebelling against all this grey with some delightful, warm, colourful, humerous and touching graffiti, or street art as it's come to be known.
This particular example was painted on the concrete wall of a car park, transforming a scene of urban ugliness into a treat for the eye.
