Sun and rain together - what a wonderful combination!
I'm standing of the flanks of Foel Ffenli late one afternoon in early winter, looking north to the summit of Moel Famau and the line of the Clwydian hills as they march across the landscape to the North Wales coast.
Clouds stream past overhead dousing me alternatively with showers and sunshine as rainbows play across the landscape in front of me.
The gently rolling hills catch the low angled light, sculpting it like liquid gold into a patchwork of highlights and shadows.
I'm in a photographic ecstacy. It's not often I see so many beautiful lighting effects all come together in a single time and place and I'm working my socks off to try and capture just a hint of what I'm experiencing in something as meagre as a two dimensional image.
Looking at the final image I reckon I've managed to express some of the feelings I went through that afternoon as I climbed back down off Foel Ffenli, soaking wet, freezing and deliriously happy.
I can only recommend you visit these wonderful places in North Wales and see them for yourself. I can't guarantee the weather though!
