For those of us with an interest in geology, the beautiful Isle of Anglesey on the North Wales coast boasts an impressive variety of rock formations, and the area around Porth Dafarch on Holy Island is particularly rich in twisted layers of colourful schist.
I like rocks, both from an interest in the science and from an artistic / photographic point of view.
Which is why a visit to this stretch of the Anglesey coast almost always ends up with me clambering perilously (according to Liz) over the cliffs looking for eye catching patterns and colours in the exposed rock formations.
This patch of schist caught my eye as I lurched from rock to rock, not least thanks to the vivid yellow colonies of lichen that had spread across its surface like a patchwork quilt.
Just a lovely combination of colour, texture, pattern and science for me to enjoy photographing.
