One sign that spring is truly well underway is the arrival of flowering poppies in my garden.
I love these bold, extravagent flowers which, although short lived, tend to dominate any flowerbed they're planted in.
To capture this image I adopted a low viewpoint, lying on the grass to capture the vivid orange petals against the blue of the sky while the sunlight shone through their delicate translucent structure.
Just beautiful!
