OK, so when in Paris you have to photograph the Eiffel Tower.
I wonder how many photos of the tower are now in existance somewhere on the web - probably millions by now - so whay take another one?
Well, no matter how many photos of a single subject are taken, those photos will all be different in some way.
That's because photos are taken by people, not machines, and just as there are no two people exactly alike in the world, so there are no two photos exactly alike either.
So what sets my offering here apart?
Well for one thing it was taken at night using a high resolution camera with a high quality lens, bolted to a sturdy tripod, and there weren't too many set ups like that on display at the time.
Another thing was that this photo was taken in the drizzle, with the camera protected with a handy hotel shower cap. So as all the other photographers were scurrying for shelter I was manfully shooting away, catching the beam of light coming off the top of the Eiffel Tower as it swept through the moisture laden air.
The next thing that sets this photo apart from the masses of others of the tower is that I was shooting in RAW format, which allowed me to make significant enhancemeents to the colour and contrast of the image without blowing the quality.
So maybe it was worth my while shooting yet one more photo of the Eiffel Tower after all.
