My wife Liz and I have been fortunate enough to be able to travel to quite a few foreign towns, and invariably we'll end up away from the main tourist areas, wandering the back streets.
You get a much better feel for a place by so doing, and the Channel port of Honfleur on the Normandy coast was no exception.
Away from the popular Vieux-Bassin, the back streets gave off an air of genteel decay, of an unhurried lifestlye in small town France.
This door caught my eye, photographically speaking, as subtely conveying the mood of the 'real' Honfleur.
