One of the few TV programs I really enjoy is Weatherman Walking, on the BBC, in which meteorologist Derek Brockway explores various walks and rambles around the beauty spots of Wales.
One of his walks took in a favourite area of mine, the Nant Ffrancon valley in the Snowdonia National Park.
Inspired after watching the program, a lovely summer's day was all the incentive my wife Liz and I needed to re-visit the Nant Ffrancon valley and check out its beauty from both ends.
This photo was taken at the northern end of the valley, looking south towards the Glyderau mountain range to the right, and the Carneddau range to the left.
The big attraction for me here was the beautiful play of light and shadow over the steep sides of the valley, as the sun played hide and seek in and out of gaps in the clouds racing by overhead.
In fact, I was so entranced by the scene that I made a time lapse video showing the changing light, of which this still image was just one of the hundreds of RAW files I took on that occasion.
A conversion to monochrome helped bring out the drama of the lighting in this individual frame.
