A stiff climb up the Devil's Kitchen in the Glydrerau, followed by a scramble over a rocky outcrop, brings you here, panting but exhilarated at the stunning view of Pen-yr-Olwen across the Ogwen valley.
i don't know how this tree has managed to grow out of virtually solid rock, but it makes for great foreground interest.
A sip of water, a munch on an apple, and it's back on the track to the top of the Glyderau.
Back home later on, pondering on how best to bring out the mood of this scene, I tried a conversion to monochrome and was very pleased with the result.
