One thing I noticed during our holiday in Austria last summer, was that the Austrians take a lot of care making sure that buildings complement the natural environment in which they're sited.
Natural environments don't come much more dramatic that at the top of the Dachstein glacier, yet even here the steel and concrete summit complex seems to be a natural extension of the local geology rather than a poorly conceived add on that just detracts from the scenic grandeur.
