What an effort! It took Liz and I half a day to climb up the last stretch of the 'Wilde Wasser' trail in central Austria, to reach the river's source, the Riesachsee.
By the time we reached the top we were panting and very thirsty, so imagine our joy and delight when we unexpectedly arrived at this fully functional restaurant, right by the lake.
We arrived just before closing time, so were able to partake of various life giving fluids before the climb back down. Mine was a 'Schaldminger' by the way.
The light by the lake was superb, with heavy storm clouds gathered over the peaks and bands of sunlight tracking over the lake and lower landscape. So while Liz enjoyed a slice of the local cake, I enjoyed a few minutes of photographic joy.
After all, I had heaved most of my photographic gear up a very steep path to get here, so I wasn't about to waste the opportunity, now was I?
