This is just one of the magnificent peaks on display from the cable car complex at the top of the Dachstein glacier in Austria.
Liz and I spent a wonderful time up there during our holiday last summer (2011), on one of the few clear days we had during our stay.
Of course, I was in my element, photographing everything in sight while trying to limit myself to mostly artistic and meaningful shots - difficult under the circumstances!
This is one of my favourite 'majestic landscape' type shots, that I found had much more impact and meaning when coverted to monochrome. That deep blue sky added a sense of light heartedness to the image that was at odds with the brooding peak, so it had to go.
That's one of the things I especially appreciate about digital. You can put so much more of your feelings and emotion into the final image than you ever could with film. (Unless you were a photographic genius of course!)
