During the day and on into the night, Puerto Pollença on Mallorca's north coast is a thronging hive of touristic activity.
However, at my favourite time of day in these popular holiday spots I have the place pretty much to myself.
What time of day am I talking about?
The hour before sunrise, as twilight is just starting creep across the sky and all is serene and calm.
The party goers are back in their rooms sleeping it off, and it seems that the world is holding its breath wating for the arrival of the sun.
It's during this time that water will be at its calmest also, with hardly a ripple disturbing the Mediterranean sea as the seafront hotels reflect in the harbour.
Behind the port, the hills of the Cap de Formentor stand out in stark sillhoutte against the cold blue of the pre-dawn sky which, in turn, gives a sharp colour contrast against the artificially lit hotels.
This is a time for quiet, for prayer, for contemplation and for photography before the sun rises and the vast tourist machine rouses itself for another day's pleasure.
