Nothing says 'tropical paradise' like a picture of a palm tree.
However, it helps to have a deserted beach to go along with the palm tree, which I didn't have on this occasion as I strolled along the heavily developed promenade at Puerto Pollença on the mediterranean island of Mallorca.
Never mind though, as pointing my camera upwards to show just the trunk and fronds of the palm avoided the traffic and restaurants, giving the final image an ambiance that would have been lost if any of the background had been included.
As it stood, the original image was nice enough, but as the composition was so simple I carried out a few Photoshop enhancements to make the colours really pop, adding to the feel good factor that this sunny photo is meant to engender.
