There are some basic compositional shapes that I love to include in a photograph.
'S' curves, triangles and, as in this case, diagonals all feature heavily in my body of work, and I'll seek out and isolate these shapes wherever I can.
This particular diagonal of rock is to be found at the Cuina del Moro viewpoint on the Cap de Formentor, Mallorca, with the contrast between the dark blue sea and pale, sunlit stone adding emphasis to the shape.
I was all set to take this photo when I noticed the boat, 300 metres below, making its tiny way into the frame, so I waited until the boat and its wake were in the ideal spot before pressing the shutter.
The boat is only a tiny element in the overall composition, but that little streak of white makes a big difference to the impact of the image.
