Normally, an outdoor photograher such as myself will concentrate their efforts around the 'golden hour', just after sunrise or just before sunset.
But when the subject of your image making efforts is the sea it can pay to photograph when the sun is at its highest, as that is when the colour of the water will be at its most vivid.
That was certainly the case as my wife Liz and I explored Cala Molins, on the north coast of the Mediterranean island of Mallorca.
With the sun directly overhead it was hot, but worth being out as the sea, lit from above, was a vivid emerald green.
My trusty polarising filter cut through the glare and allowed the pure, undimmed colour to shine through.
Just beautiful.
