Llyn Cowlyd is one of the highest, bleakest and deepest reservoirs in Wales, lying as it does high in the Carneddau mountains in the Snowdonia National Park.
Having driven up an exhilarating single track road, followed by a two mile hike to the reservoir and back, my wife Liz and I were ready for a sit down and picnic by our parked car.
We thought we had this remote location to ourselves for a while, but soon enough a couple of hikers passed us by, following the road back down to the village of Trefriw.
Their inclusion in this image was a no-brainer for me, adding an extra touch of life to the somewhat sparse landscape.
