Away from the more heavily developed south coast, my wife Liz and I found some beautiful places during our week long explore of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.
Being a relatively small island compared with its larger neighbours of Gran Canaria and Tenerife, we found we could easily drive everywhere on Lanzarote and still be back to our resort in time for tea.
One of the most beautiful places we ended up was the north coast at Famara, a relatively unpopulated area but with stunning views northwards to the smaller islands of La Graciosa and Montana Clara.
This view is from a track which hugs the shoreline northwards from the village of Caleta de Famara, caught just before sunset with the last of the light catching the upper slopes of the volcanic mountains lining this amazing stretch of coast.
