Away from the more heavily developed south coast, my wife Liz and I found some beautiful places during our week long explore of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.
Being a relatively small island compared with its larger neighbours of Gran Canaria and Tenerife, we found we could easily drive everywhere on Lanzarote and still be back to our resort in time for tea.
One of the most beautiful places we ended up was the north coast at Famara, a relatively unpopulated area but with stunning views northwards to the smaller islands of La Graciosa and Montana Clara.
This view is from the small seaside village of Caleta de Famara, where we decided to have our tea in a handy beachfront restaurant and then hang around for the sunset - but that's another story.
