Being quite a small island, my wife Liz and I were able to drive around pretty much all of Lanzarote during our week long winter sun break in the Canary Islands.
One of our favourite drives was along the road north from the inland town of Haria, which follows the coastline through some very dramatic and beautiful scenery.
This view, looking westwards out to the Atlantic ocean, was taken from a convenient viewpoint by the side of the road on beautiful sunny afternoon with just a few cumulus clouds wafting across the sky above.
You can see how hard the Lanzarotians have to work to grow anything in this volcanic landscape by looking at the attempt at terracing on the mountainsides - what an effort!
