The little village of Femes, high up in the mountains towards the southern end of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, proved to be charming spot that my wife Liz and I drove though on a couple of occasions while on our way from our resort at Puerto del Carmen to visit the seaside metropolis of Playa Blanca on the south coast of the island.
On this occasion, however, we stopped for a look around and a quick coffee at the 'El Mirador de Femes' cafe.
What struck me was the quaint village square, with white painted low rise buildings, palm trees and the small church 'Iglesia de San Marcial del Rubicon, pictured here.
All very clean and well looked after - typical of Lanzarote as a whole.
