One of the most spectacular stretches of volcanic coastline that my wife Liz and I visited during our week long winter break on Lanzarote in the Canary Islands was that of Famara on the northwest coast of the island.
With a beach of lava rocks, backed by towering cliffs just catching the light of the setting sun and with the pounding of the Atlantic breakers battering the shoreline, this was just an amazing sensory experience.
So much so that we stayed here long after sunset, with me standing, eyes streaming in the onshore breeze, adjusting the exposure on my tripod mounted camera as it recorded the hundreds of stills required to make my Lanzarote Sunset timelapse #2 video.
It was with a great reluctance that we tore ourselves away in the darkness for the drive back to the resort.
