As usual, you have to put in a little effort to get a more evocative image of a place than can be achieved with a casual snapshot.
This photo was taken right at the water's edge, just after sunrise on a wonderfully calm May morning before the breeze got up and ruffled the surface of the lake.
The trees were glowing in the early sun, whilst the ridges of the Snowdon horseshoe sat brooding under a layer of early cloud.
In the foreground a baby pine struggles for a foothold in the barren lakeside soil.
You would think that being here, watching the light change and soaking in the peace and calm of the early morning would have been a wonderfully relaxing and spiritually uplifting experience, and it would have been if not for those dratted midges!
I came away from there looking like I'd caught the measles, how we suffer for our art!
