Take the A5 historical route south from Bangor, on the North Wales coast, and you will drive through some of the most stunning scenery in the UK.
The road takes you through the small town of Bethesda, before channeling you up through the Nant Ffrancon pass and into the Ogwen valley.
Once the road turns left past the ranger station a wonderful vista opens up before you as the A5 skirts the shore of Llyn Ogwen as it runs from west to east.
On the north shore of the lake is the imposing bulk of Pen yr Olwen, to the south is the fantastically shaped Tryfan, beloved of climbers and artists alike.
Just behind you is the aptly named Devil's Kitchen, gateway to the Glyderau range, and flanking the Nant Ffrancon pass is the brutal buttress of Y Garn.
As you stand on the most western point of Llyn Ogwen in the pre-dawn twilight and look east you can see the high clouds start to catch the first rays of the rising sun.
Then, on a still, clear morning with the lake acting as a giant sky mirror, you can watch with awe and delight as the drama being played out in the heavens above is repeated on the water's surface.
This is a time and place to worship the God who said 'Let there be light', and, of course, to take the odd photo or two!
