We're looking at one of my favourite places in the world in this image.
This is a photo of the mountain called Pen Yr Olwen in Snowdonia, North Wales, taken from the far shore of Llyn Idwal which lies at the base of the Devil's Kitchen.
Walking around the lake is a real treat and offers fantastic views in all directions.
This particular image was taken in the middle of winter, on a cold and blustery day just after a snow shower and, although it's much more pleasant to walk around Llyn Idwal in summer, this is a much more 'truthful' view of how this region looks for a goodly part of the year.
For me, displaying this image in monochrome was the obvious thing to do, with a slight blue tint added to bring out the feeling of cold bleakness that is part of the mystery and wonder of a winter's day in Snowdonia.
