This is Coniston Water, fifth largest lake in England and home to many famous (and infamous) world water speed record attempts.
Nothing was moving with much haste when Liz and I visited during our week long stay in the Lakes. The fastest thing on the water was the paddle steamer plying its way across the lake at about 3 knots.
But that suited me, as I was more interested in the reflections of the lowering clouds hanging menacingly overhead.
This isn't a typical sunny day postcard image, but one that I think is much more true to what you'll find on a typical day out in the Lakes.
And yes - it did start to rain shortly after I took this photo!
