During our week long stay on Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, my wife Liz and I took a day's ferry and coach excursion over to La Gomera, another of the smaller Canary Islands just to the west of Tenerife itself.
Much less developed than its larger neighbour, La Gomera boasts a rich and diverse volcanic landscape, with a wide range of flora on display on the many slopes and valleys which make up the topography of the island.
Our ferry docked at San Sebastian de La Gomera, the island's port and capital, and I was immediately struck by the rather pretty colourful buildings, stretching upwards in terraces on the steep sided hills surrounding the port.
But with no time to photograph the town before being whisked off on our coach I was glad when we stopped at this overlook, high in the hills above San Sebastian, which gave this lovely view looking down on the town from above, with some of that vegetation in the foreground.
Just a few minutes to get a couple of pictures and then off again to our next destination high in the mountains.
