The west coast of Ireland bore the brunt of the severe winter storms of 2012-2013, with the seaside town of Kilkee in County Clare being particularly hard hit, with a lot of damage to the seafront infrastructure.
My wife Liz and I always treat ourselves to a visit to Kilkee during our regular trips to this part of the world, and in 2014 we were distressed to see the amount of damage all along the promenade.
However, in 2015 when this photo was taken, although there was still a lot of work to be done, we were heartened to see things returning to normal.
The newly restored and freshly painted bandstand looked particularly resplendant in the afternoon sunshine, and I hope that when we next visit all the rest of the restoration work will have been completed, as this really is the most charming of Irish towns.
