Gift shops are something to which my wife Liz and I have vastly different reactions.
Normally she's happy to mooch around looking at local nic-naks for what seems like hours, while I avoid them like the plague and normally go off and photograph street details while she's occupied.
However, on this occasion we both spent a good few minutes entranced in the minerals gift shop outside the caves at Postojnska.
I don't know about you, but geology fascinates me and there was a remarkable display of fossils, geodes (some as big as me!) and semi-precious stones to ogle at.
This photo shows just one display of jewellery based on the red semi-preciaous stone Carnelian, but there were many more in a rainbow of colours.
Liz bought a lovely necklace for the ridiculous price of eight euros, while I contented myself with some photos of the displays.
