One of the towns on the shores of Lake Como that my wife Liz and I made a special point of visiting during out two week stay in the mountains of northern Italy was Lecco, right at the southernmost end of the lake.
A day or so before this picture was taken we'd picked up a couple of hitch hikers who had wanted to go to Lecco, so with nothing better to do, we took them, dropping them off by the train station.
Driving along the lakeside road we were suprised at just how lovely the town was, hence the return trip for a more relaxed exploration.
We took some time to visit the very ornate Basilica di San Nicolo, which had some beautiful architectural details on show.
