On the last day of Liz's and my cruise around Iceland on the P&O liner Azura we sailed out of the northern port of Akureyri, up the Eyjafjordur fjord and out into the vastness of the North Atlantic ocean.
Having spent the last few days under leaden skies, the sail up the fjord took place under glorious sunshine, with white, fluffy clouds topping the dramatic snow draped mountains at the side of the fjord while minky whales blew spouts of water vapour in the ship's wake.
What a turn around in conditions!
Needless to say, we, and most of the other passengers, spent the sail away on the various outside decks of the liner, 'oohing' and 'aahing' at the magnificent scenery and the spouting whales.
I spent most of the time as we sailed up the fjord with my camera glued to my face, taking countless images as one beautiful scene blended into another.
This particular image, with light clouds capping the mountains, the sun gleaming on patches of snow and a small (from this distance) waterfall cascading over the cliff edge into the sea, was one of my favourites.
