This scene is a juxtaposition of Icelandic scenery, Icelandic weather and Icelandic architecture, with all three elements complimenting each other in terms of colour and tone.
During our trip to Iceland, Liz and I found the predominant colour to be monotone selection of greys, whites and blacks, which defined the landscape, the weather and had seeped into the psyche of Icelandic architects as well, as this waterfront building on the side of the Eyjafjordur fjord at Akureyri demonstrates.
The monochromatic nature of the scenery and architecture all contributed to the ambiance of 'Icelandic noir' that seemed to be the predominant mood of the island - until the sun came out that is!
