This beautiful view shows the end of the Eyjafjordur fjord at Akureyri, Iceland, photographed from the unusual vantage point of the highest deck of the P&O cruise liner Azura while she was berthed there.
Sunlight was in short supply up there in the north Atlantic, and this was the first actual sun that we'd seen for the past four days, so of course I took as much photographic advantage as I could, as the mountains and fjord were transformed into a visual wonderland for a short time by the direct illumination.
The high vantage point helped as well, enabling me to look down on the still surface of the fjord as it reflected the blues and whites of the sky above.
A small boat, strategically placed, added a suitable focal point to complete this composition, and I'm glad i took this shot when I did, as shortly after the small boat sailed away and heavy clouds rolled back over the sun, ending that particular photographic treat for the time being.
