Sunlight and storm clouds made for a heady lighting combination as I looked out over the side from the highest deck of our P&O cruise liner Azura, docked at the port of Akureyri on the north coast of Iceland.
This was the first actual sunlight we'd seen for the past four days here in the north Atlantic, so I seized on the event and went into a photography frenzy while the light lasted.
The sunlit buildings of Akureyri shone like jewels against the dramatic backdrop of clouds and mountains, but the effect was short lived as the clouds rolled across the sky, finally blotting out the sunlight once again.
Mind you, that brief display kept me enthused for the rest of the day, and I'm glad to say that the sun did put in a few more appearances during our stay here.
