Early spring on the volcanic island of Gran Canaria and in the uplands the dry landscape has come alive with a carpet of flowering shrubs and bushes.
This view out over the village of Tejeda, with the famous Roque Nublo in the background, shows what I mean.
I certainly wasn't expecting such an abundance of flora out of what is a semi-arid desert environment.

Comments - Handheld exposure with image stabilisation.
