A legacy of the Spanish building boom and bust cycle, this abandoned and unfinished shell of a hotel adorns the mountainside at Taurito on the otherwise lovely island of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands.
I'm drawn, photographically speaking, to decay and dereliction, as these monuments to man's greed and folly tell more of a story and have more atmosphere than the shiny nice stuff.
Plus, this was the view out from our resort room balcony, so it was no hardship to shoot the overlapping frames needed to make this high resolution panoramic collage while munching on a piece of toast!
In fact, I was so taken with this abandoned skeleton of a building that I also shot a few hundred still images to make my Gran Canaria Taurito Timelapse #1 video as the morning sunlight crept down the hillside.
