This is Roque Nublo, probably the best known volcanic rock formation on the island of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands.
During our week long stay on the island, my wife Liz and I saw this rock from many different angles.
We even managed a hike up to the rocks themselves on one occasion, seeking a suitable angle for a photograph, but to no avail.
Eventually we found this viewpoint at the base of the other famous Gran Canaria rock, Roque Bentayga, that looked across a valley to Roque Nublo on the other side.
Finally able to do justice, photographically apeaking, to Roque Nublo I went a bit mad and took a few dozen images from various angles as the sun slowly set in the west.
Back home, and in a more critical frame of mind, I picked the best for further processing, enhancing colours, contrast and composition to bring out the loveliness of the scene as I remembered it.
