One of my pleasures while visiting a foreign country on holiday is to drive around the smaller local roads and to look at the scenery that I would miss by just staying in a tourist resort.
Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands has some great roads to enjoy, both from a driving and photography point of view, and my wife Liz and I drove over 1000km around the volcanic landscape during our week long stay on the island.
This image, of the GC-200 road near Mogan, is typical of the sort of driving I was enjoying.
How they build these roads through this volcanic terrain just amazes me!
