This could be one of those 'where in the world' photo competition images you sometimes see in travel magazines.
An exotic location like the Kalahari or Namibian desert maybe?
No, actually I took this photo standing on the promenade that runs along one of the most touristy(?) spots on the Seychelle island of Gran Canaria, Playa des Ingles.
Situated on the south coast of the island, this sand dune forms part of the Dunas de Maspalomas nature reserve, right next to the aforementioned sunbed encrusted beach.
I love shooting and processing images like this one, and I'm always amused by how excluding elements from the composition can radically affect one's perception of a scene.
For instance, zooming out just a little from the scene shown here and a footpath, people, footprints, and a few sunbeds would all appear in the frame, completely destroying the air of exotic mystery that concentrating just on the dune shape and flow has engendered.
Another aspect of adding mood to this work was the post processing, in which I modified contrast, saturation and a few other things to bring out the beauty and ambiance of what I was experiencing as I looked through the viewfinder of my camera.
For me, photography is so much more than just recording a scene, and I'm so glad I'm able to realise my own view of God's wonderful creation both at the taking and processing stages of image making.
