The magnificent volcanic landscapes of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands are a must see for anyone visiting this lovely spot.
So our hire car took quite a pounding during the week in February 2019 that my wife Liz and I spent exploring the mountain roads.
From our base at Taurito on the heavily developed south coast we drove north and soon found ourselves in another world of mountains and canyons, as sunlight and shadow played over the landscapes.
One of the more amazing sights that we stopped to photograph was the Los Azulos rock formations, with bands of multi coloured ore exposed on the sides of volcanic upwellings, shown as a panoramic collage here.
The view was so impressive that I also took hundreds of still images of the rocks and clouds to make my Gran Canaria Mogan timelapse #1 video, which you can watch by following the link.
