The Pitti Palace on the south bank of the river Arno is one of the foremost and well known art galleries in Florence, and Liz and I spent a day there exploring during our short break in Tuscany.
Although the artwork was nice, I was much more interested in the buildings and gardens, with the older, sub-terranean sections of the palace holding special interest.
The warm play of light on the decaying ochre walls of this courtyard was particularly attractive to me, as was the framing of the scene through this archway.
The arch within an arch draws you into the image, and I wonder what lies through that passageway?
