Florence is home to many famous works of art and architecture, and the Piazza della Signoria, next to the famous Uffizi Gallery, certainly has an abundance of both.
Liz and I were amazed to see huge marble statues by reknowned artists just seemingly scattered around the square.
We first visited during the day, then came back at dusk for me to indulge myself for those magical twenty minutes as daylight fades to night and the blue light of the sky is both balanced and contrasted by the yellow glow of the floodlights as the Piazza and its artworks come alive with light.
Liz didn't mind my going of in a photographic daze, as she was similarly enraptured by the classical guitar music being played live to an appreciative crowd seated amongst the sculptures.
This was the best evening of our trip to this most wonderful of cities, and just writing about it now makes me wish we were back there.
