Perched on a basalt outcropping right next to the sea on Northern Ireland's Antrim coast, the ruins of Dunluce castle are very impressive.
You can't go far in Ireland without coming across some ruined castle, tower, or other stronghold pointing to the country's turbulent past, and Dunluce is one of the best from a dramatic visual point of view.
When Liz and I paid a visit here in the summer of 2013 we were blessed with ideal weather for photography, with mixed cloud and sun adding to the drama of the scene.
Nice for a picnic as well!
