The Snowdonia National Park in North Wales is a fascinating blend of dramatic natural beauty juxtaposed with the results of centuries of farming, industry and mining.
Nowhere is this seeming clash of nature and industry more apparent than in the Vale of Llanberis, where the huge, and now abandoned, Dinorwig slate quarry cascades in terraces down to the shores of Llyn Peris in the valley below.
This enormous scar on the landscape sits amongst some of the most visually stunning scenery in Snowdonia, and at first glance you think to yourself - what a shame - especially on a dull grey, rainy day.
But then the sun comes out, lighting up the glistening faces of the multi-hued slate and you think - maybe Dinorwig doesn't look too out of place here after all.
This view of the quarry and Llyn Peris was captured from the other side of the valley, high up on the ruins of Dolbadarn Castle, another manmade addition to the landscape that doesn't look too out of place either.

Filters - Polarising filter used to enhance colours. 2 stop neutral density graduated filter used to reduce the brightness of the clouds.
