More zany scenery from my wife Liz and my holiday in Arizona, U.S.A.. This remarkable place is called the Painted Desert, which is found just to the east of Winslow, as in 'I'm standin' on a corner in Winslow Arizona' of Eagles fame.
What seems to have happened is erosion on a grand scale, revealing multiple layers and stripes of underlying rock and sediment. However it occured, the Painted Desert looked like nothing we'd ever seen before, and made for some otherworldly photography.
