One of the most spectacular spots on the Antrim coast is Torr Head.
With great views up and down the rugged coast, and across the water to Scotland, in good weather this is a must see location.
However, when Liz and I made our visit the weather was anything but good, with low cloud, fog and drizzle obscuring the grand view.
So we turned our attention to the abandoned coast guard watch tower, right on the pinnacle of the Torr.
With a refreshing lack of health and safety provision, there were no barriers or warnings preventing us (and quite a few others) from exploring the slowly decaying remains of this somewhat remote outpost.
This room is typical of what we saw.
Not the most prettiest of views from Torr Head, but one that is redolent with the history of the place.
I wonder what it was like to be stationed here in the midst of a fierce storm? Impressive but scary, I would imagine.
