When my wife Liz and I want to spend a day in the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales we'll quite often take the scenic route to get there.
That means driving from our home near Mold, over to Denbigh (a delightful drive in itself) and then up over the Sportsman's Pass which crosses Denbigh Moors and drops down to Pentrefoelas near Betws-y-Coed in Snowdonia.
The drive over the the bleak, desolate and windswept Denbigh Moors is spectacular, with views to both the Clwydian Mountains and the high peaks of Snowdonia on either side of the road.
But there are limited opportunities to park up and admire the views on the narrow, winding road, and this is one of the best.
This panoramic view takes in rolling farmland in the foreground, bathed in sunlight, while over on the far horizon the ancient rounded hills of the Clwydian Range are barely visible under heavy clouds and rain.
Typical North Wales weather, and a few minutes after I'd taken the dozen or so overlapping frames needed to create this stitched panoramic collage the light had changed completely, with the direct sunlight swept away by the enroaching storm.
