The North Wales coast is a great place to watch and photograph a sunset from, especially in the summer months when the sun sets to the northwest out over the Irish Sea.
One of my favourite places for a sunset shooting session is the promenade at Deganwy, with easy parking and a great old fashioned seaside shelter to set up your camera in, protected from any breezes that might be blowing.
And breezes are an issue when you're photographing down the long end of a 100-400mm zoom lens, as the tripod mounted setup can twitch around in the gusts.
Not a problem if you're just taking individual images, but when you're shooting hundreds of frames as I was, in order to create my Deganwy Sunset Timelapse #13 video, then even slight movements of the camera/lens combo during shooting can result in a time lapse video guaranteed to induce motion sickness for the viewer.
Hence my appreciation of the shelter on Deganwy promenade, which I used to good effect for this time lapse video.
This is one of the stills that I captured that evening, showing the sun just disappearing into a bank of cloud next to the tidal rescue tower just off Conwy Morfa on the other side of the Conwy estuary.
