The first day of our holiday in Croatia, and my wife Liz was immediately off to a hen party somewhere in Spilt, leaving me free to wander around, camera in hand taking in the sights, sounds and smells of this rather charming town on the Adriatic coast.
As is my habit when in a new location, I started off by photographing the usual tourist attractions, such as the waterfront and harbour, but then wandered off into the backstreets to explore and photograph the more 'natural' parts of Split.
Such as this very normal scene of washing hanging out to dry in a courtyard against a lovely arrangement of old stone walls with battered doors and wooden shutters.
To me, a much more appealing view than the areas kept nice for tourists!
