The first day of our holiday in Croatia, and my wife Liz was immediately off to a hen party somewhere in Spilt, leaving me free to wander around, camera in hand taking in the sights, sounds and smells of this rather charming town on the Adriatic coast.
I soon arrived at the large harbour with lots of boats and small craft moored alongside and some quite ornate and picturesque buildings lining the promenade.
So I was soon finding nice viewpoints from which to photograph the scene, trying to convey something of the holiday vibe that a popular seaside generates.
There was plenty to go at, but I soon found out that I needed to dial the exposure down a notch in order to keep some detail in the brightly lit white hulled boats that formed the foreground on most of my shots.
