When my wife Liz and I visit a new town we very quickly abandon the usual tourist hotspots and instead we mooch around the backstreets, checking out how ordinary life is lived.
Such was the case during our two week stay on the Mediterranean island of Crete, where we stopped for a looksee at the small town of Mythos on the eastern side of the island.
This little tableau of a stone wall with a small flowering bush hanging over it caught my eye.
Just a simple array of lovely elements needing very little effort from me to look striking other than pressing the shutter.
